We are looking forward to race day this Sunday June 19th! We offer the following recommendations to all runners as suggestions for an enjoyable experience at the Towpath Ten-Ten.
Packet pick-up and registrations are available at the Westlake, Pepper Pike or Northfield Fleet Feet Sports locations on Wednesday, June 15th and Thursday, June 16th from 10am-7pm. We also offer packet pick up Saturday June 18th from 9am until 4pm at Quaker Steak in Valley View. (get directions)
Yes, a friend can pick up your bib for you, they do not need your ID.
We can no longer accommodate “day of” race bib pick up. If you had your bib mailed to you please pick up your performance tee after the race at the post party at Quaker Steak and Lube (outdoor patio)
There are plenty of registrations available for both the 10K and 10 Mile race lengths. Performance tee sizes may be limited for those that sign up for the race at Fleet Feet Stores or on Saturday from 9am-4pm and Sunday from 5:30am-6:30am at Quaker Steak and Lube.
You can sign up for the race on Sunday morning from 5:30 am – 6:30 am.
Sunday Morning – get up/ get there by 6 am.
RUNNERS – THERE IS A WALK TO THE STARTING LINES; IT IS ABOUT 7/10 OF A MILE TO THE 10 MILE START AND 1 MILE TO 10 K START – PLAN ACCORDINGLY!
Please note there is no longer a bridge that crosses over the canal to the Towpath Trail across from Quaker Steak and Lube. Runners, please walk on the grass on the right hand side of Canal Rd. heading North. Cross the street at the first traffic light you come to at West Canal Rd. Volunteers and Valley View police will be on site to help monitor traffic.
There is easy access to the Start lines for the Ten-Ten. You don’t want to be last minute – especially as we do close some roads starting at 6:15 am to accommodate our 7:00 am start time. There will be five portalets at the 10K Start Line, nine portalets at the 10-Mile Start, three portalets at the Finish Line as well and three more along the course. It’s better to be there early to avoid the last minute rush and lines. Please note there will be only be one portalet at Quaker Steak and Lube.
Park at Cinemark-
The Cinemark Parking area, right behind Quaker Steak, accessed off of Canal Road is the best choice. It is near the Finish Line – about 3/10 of a mile. The Start Lines are about 1 mile from there – it provides a nice warm-up jog to the start. When you finish the race you can enjoy a complimentary brunch at Quaker Steak, a cold glass of Great Lakes Beer ($4/beer) and Suburban Physical Therapy will be available to assist runners at the finish line.
Don’t Park at Bob’s Big Boy or in front of Canal Properties – facing Towpath Trail -If you choose another parking area, unauthorized – please park in the Canal Properties large, gravel parking lot between Granger and Warner Roads. Do not park at Big Boy – they will tow your car. The Church on the North Coast occupies a portion of the Canal Properties building – they hold services there on Sunday, starting at 10 am and ask that we don’t occupy parking in front of their doors – both sides of building. AGAIN – WE RECOMMEND PARKING AT CINEMARK.
Have some fun – wear a tacky tie in celebration of Father’s Day
During the Race– Hydrate. Drink water and Gatorade. I know all runners know that they need to drink fluids during a race. More so if the weather is warm. We don’t want any medical mishaps, so we ask that you follow this very good advice. We have both water and Gatorade on the course and at the Finish Line and Quaker Steak. So, Drink Up!
Be Courteous / stay to the right. Runners are heading in both directions – be safe – stay right except to pass
The race is run on a 12-foot wide trail. Bear right except when passing. Run on right side crossing bridges. Be aware of passing fast runners. Runners run in both directions on portions of the trail.
10 Mile course/ 10K course and aid stations will be open for 3 hours: 7:00 am-10:00 am.
To ensure a shirt and your desired shirt size, runners had to register by May 27, 2016. We make no guarantees for those who sign up after. You get the shirt you ordered. We cannot exchange once they’re ordered.
Bus Shuttle Service
We do provide bus shuttle service at the Finish Line for this race back to the post party at Quaker Steak and Lube.
Yes, we do accommodate bringing your bags (no large back packs please) to the finish line, but note if you park at Cinemark (as we highly recommend) you can easily store your items in your car if needed.
10 K Awards Ceremony will commence at 8:30am/8:45 am at Quaker Steak.
10 Mile Awards commence at 9:00 am at Quaker Steak.
Please stick around for the award ceremony. Please be patient as we wait for runner results to be given to our race staff from our timing company Hermes.
Walkers may begin early – 10 K start at 6:30 am from Bacci Park. Please bring a water bottle.
10-Milers can begin at 6:00 am from Start Line on Cloverleaf Road.
