REGISTRATION

How can I register?

Register for the races online by selecting the correct link for the race you want to run in, or feel free to print out the mail in form for your desired race and send in form by the deadline date.

After that point, the only registrations accepted will be at the packet pick up at Quaker Steak and Lube on Saturday June 20th from 9am-4pm or on race date at your start line between 5:30am-6:30am, if spaces are available.

PACKET PICKUP

Where and when can I pick up my packet?

Packet pickup will be available at area Fleet Feet Sports stores (Westlake, Northfield, Strongsville, and Pepper Pike)

You may also register for the Towpath Ten-Ten at packet pick-up

COURSE

Is the course flat?

YES. The course is VERY flat, but please refer to the COURSE page for elevation chart/

What is the surface?

The  Towpath Trail in the Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation is asphalt.

Will any roads be closed?

Yes.  Generally, the roads close a 1/2  hour before the start of each race.

Is every mile marked along the course?

Yes, the 10k is marked with blue sign and white letters and the 10 miler is marked with white signs and green letters.

How long is the course open?

The course will be supported with aid stations for 3 hours.  If you are concerned that you may not finish in that time frame, you may want to consider an early start.

Can I walk the course?

We welcome walkers and encourage them to take advantage of our 6:00am  start time (10 miler) or a 6:30am start time (10k)

AWARDS

What are the age groups and who is eligible?

Awards will be given to the following runners:

1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Overall Male & Female (10k and 10 Miler including Father’s Day Categories)

Top Master Male & Female (10k and 10 Miler)

1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Male & Female in the following age groups:
19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-99 (10k and 10 Milers)

What if it rains?

This is a rain or shine event.  In the case of extreme weather the race director as the right to cancel the race.  Canalway Partners (501c3) will not issue refund of race fees or postpone the race.  This is standard policy for fundraising races.  Please visit our Towpath Marathon Facebook page for most recent updates.

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

Refunds

Sorry, but all entries are non-refundable. Once we’ve received and processed your entry, you will not receive a refund, you may not give or sell your race number to other people, and entry fees are not transferable to the next year’s race or any other race.

You are able to transfer your entry to another person for a fee of $10.00. This can be done at any of the packet pickups prior to race day. There will be NO transfers on race day!

Transfer Information

To complete a Transfer, go to your profile on Runsignup and chose either the refund transfer or gift transfer option. Enter in the Transferee’s name and email to send them the transferring registration. Once the transferee completes the registration, the original registrant is removed from the race. 

  • Refund Transfers: Transferee pays the current price of the registration. The original registrant pays a $10 transfer fee
  • Gift Transfer: Transferee’s registration is free. The original registrant pays a $10 transfer fee.

AMENITIES AND SERVICES

What do runners get?

All runners will receive a short-sleeved technical shirt and 10 mile runners will receive finishers medals. There will be food available at no cost to runners only.

Is there food provided for spectators?

Quaker Steak and Lube offers a brunch for $6.00.  Includes scrambled eggs, bagels and bacon.

Are there any other amenities?

Runners will have access to food, live music and beer  – from our region’s own Great Lakes!

WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDED SPECTATOR LOCATIONS?

Finish Line – located on West Canal Road in the parking lot of Cuyahoga County Public Works. Park at Cinemark and cross street. Be mindful of runners on Towpath between 7 am – 8:00 am  Please do not stand on Towpath Trail for beginning of the race.

Between the White Bridges that cross over Warner Road. Near Bacci Park Below Kreiger Canalway Center – Take I-77 to Grant Ave.. Head west on Grant Ave. Turn left on E. 49th. Go approx. 1/2 mile and turn right into the Metroparks Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation. From the parking lot, walk down the hill to the trail.

MISCELLANEOUS

Are headphones permitted?

Yes. Please be mindful of other runners while wearing them, though!

Will there be a bag drop?

Yes. There will be a volunteer at the start lines with duct tape and a marker.  Please put write your bib number on the duct tape and stick to your bag. Drop bags will be brought to the finish line. We are not responsible for lost/stolen items, but the bags will be watched.

Where and when will the results be posted?

Results will be posted on our website within 24 hours, if not earlier.

Do you allow walkers in the marathon?

We welcome walkers in the 10k (6:30am) and the 10 miler (6am)

Can I run with my dog?

No

Cam I run with a baby stroller or racing wheelchair?

No, the Towpath Trail can vary in size from 8 to 10 feet wide  and with runners racing in both directions in separate race divisions we do not allow jogging strollers or racing wheelchairs out of concerns for safety

PARKING

Where can I park if I am running or a spectator?

Runners should take advantage of the parking area at Cinemark, Canal Rd. and Heinton Rd. behind the Quaker Steak (get directions.)

Spectators can cheer runners across the Finish Line – located on West Canal Road in the parking lot of Cuyahoga County Public Works. Park at Cinemark and cross street. Be mindful of runners on Towpath between 7 am – 8:00 am  Please do not stand on Towpath Trail for beginning of the race.

Also, spectators can view runners between the White Bridges that cross over Warner Road. Near Bacci Park Below Kreiger Canalway Center – Take I-77 to Grant Ave.. Towpath Ten Mile Race

Park in the Cinemark lot located off of Canal Road and Heinton Road, behind Quaker Steak.
The Start Line is located approximately 7/10 of a mile north – cross Canal Road at Heinton – head north on Towpath Trail – follow signs = 10 Mile Start. You will walk along mowed path that follows the I-480 Bridge to Start.
There will be portalets at the Start Line, portalets are located at Finish Line and Start Lines.

Towpath 10K Race

Park in the Cinemark lot located off of Canal Road and Heinton Road, behind Quaker Steak.
The Start Line is located approximately 1 mile north – follow Towpath Trail north to start line – located on Canal Road by Bacci Park. Follow signs – 10K Start Line.  You can cross Warner and Granger without using bridges if you want. The Start Line is located on Canal Road north of Warner Road, near Bacci Park. (NOTE – THERE IS NO PARKING AT BACCI PARK AND BOB’S BIG BOY.
There will be portalets located in the Bacci Park parking lot. A Water Station is located off the Towpath Trail near Bacci Park. The Finish Line for the Towpath 10K is located at the Soil & Water Conservation District on West Canal Road, across from Quaker Steak.

For Towpath 10K Race, park in the Cinemark Parking Lot located behind Quaker Steak on Canal Road in Valley View (get directions) –  the starting line for 10K  is on Canal Rd by  Bacci Park.  Please walk on Canal Road heading North.  At the first traffic light at Fosdick Road is a bridge over the canal to the Towpath Trail.  Once on Towpath Trail follow the signs to the 10K Start. You can cross Granger and Warner at street level to avoid bridges. Finish Line is located in the parking lot Cuyahoga County Public Works at 6100 W. Canal Rd.
